Thompson, Nancy Lovern
Nancy Lovern Thompson, born on August 22, 1942, in Blacksburg, Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 7, 2026.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She is cherished by all who know her for her boundless generosity and compassion for everyone around her. Nancy’s life has been a testament to love, kindness, strength, and her love for God and for everyone around her.
Born to Harless and Elizabeth Lovern, she is predeceased by her dear parents, her sisters Judy Lovern, Christine Rice, Shirley Price, Peggy Elliott, and her brother Randol Lovern. Despite these losses, Nancy has always carried her family’s legacy forward with grace and resilience.
For over 65 years, Nancy has shared a beautiful marriage with her devoted husband, Larry Thompson. Their love is an inspiration to many, built on a foundation of mutual respect, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they raised a daughter, Wanda Mooney, who, along with her husband Mike, brought immense joy and pride to Nancy’s life.
Nancy’s family has been blessed with the light of her granddaughter, Amber Slusser, and the precious presence of her great-granddaughter, Brook Brillhart. Nancy’s heart swells with pride as she witnesses the strength and love carried forward through her family.
Her surviving family includes her brother Eddie Lovern and his wife Connie. Nancy is also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, who hold her dear in their hearts.
A proud member of the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 40 years, Nancy’s faith has been a guiding light in her life. Her commitment to her church community is a testament to her deep love for God.
Nancy’s heart is as vast as her love for football, particularly the Dallas Cowboys, her all-time favorite team. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like mowing and tending to her yard, creating a sanctuary of beauty and peace.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving care. They provided comfort and support that Nancy and her family will forever cherish.
Nancy’s life was filled with caring, love, generosity, and faith. Her life will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, September 11, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Dale Huff officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from Noon to 1:00 PM before the service.
