Owens, Charles Freddie
Charles “Freddie” Owens passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Freddie was a loving husband, Father, and Papa. He was always there for his family, especially his grandchildren. When it came to school or sports activities, he was always there to support them and cheer them on. He retired from Volvo with 30 years of service. “Dad” “Papa”, was a wonderful cook and he learned to cook from his precious mother who taught all her kids how to cook at a young age. He was one of the best!
Freddie is preceded in death by his parents, David Lee and Dorothy Thornton Owens; Siblings and their spouses, Margaret and Robert Viers, Earnest “Buddy” Owens, Richard and Kathy Owens, Eldon Owens, Ricky and Doris Owens.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Diana Phillips Owens; his three sons whom he was so proud of and his wonderful daughters-in-law, Phillip Owens, Mike Owens (Tara), and Darrell Owens (Betty Jo); his four grandchildren whom he adored, Jordan Owens, Hunter Owens, Morgan Owens, and Kortlin Owens; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley Weaver (Tommy); sisters-in-law, Peggy Owens and Terry Simpkins; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barry Phillips (Belinda), Randy Phillips (Judy), and Becky Gregg; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026 in the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neil Wood and Rev. Frankie Graham officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Internment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, Virginia.
