Pence, Roger Garreth

Roger Garreth Pence, age 79, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at his home. Born August 22, 1947, in Sarton, WV, he was the son of the late Harland and Mary Ester Parker Pence.

Roger was a member of the Cashmere Baptist Church. He worked as Yard Master for the railroad for 16 years. He owned the Texaco Service Center and several other businesses, including KC’s Dawg Haus in Peterstown. He served on the Peterstown Town Council for several years and was an excellent wood worker and builder. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his special stepdaughter, Michelle Page.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Wally Pence; children, Heather, Christopher, Joshua and wife Teri, and Zachary; stepchildren, Danny Page and Chris Page and wife Amanda; thirteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a special grandson, River, whom he welcomed into his life and raised with all the love of a father and grandfather; brother, Randell Pence and wife Marilyn; two nephews; special friend, Doug Mullins and wife Sharon; and special caregiver who was like a daughter, Tammy Wills.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00PM on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Cashmere Baptist Church in Cashmere, WV, with Pastor Walt Bonnell and Pastor John Offenberger officiating.
