Coltrane, Melba Martin 2Melba Joyce Martin Coltrane, age 73, of Pulaski County, Virginia, passed away at Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery following a short illness on August 10, 2026. She was born on May 30, 1953.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Daniel Coltrane. When Danny passed, a large part of Melba’s heart went with him, and she carried his memory with her always.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Richmond R. Martin and Faye Bailey Martin; her sister, Janice Martin; three brothers, Ronald Martin, Jerry Martin, and Harold Martin; and her nephew, Tommy Martin.
She was further preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Gary Coltrane and Jack Thatcher.

SHE IS SURVIVED BY

her daughter, Ellen Coltrane Greene (Mark Dalton) and her two cherished grandchildren, Emma-Kate Jones (Jacob) of Boone, North Carolina, and William Spencer Greene of Radford, Virginia and her stepdaughter, Christie Coltrane Sexton of Pulaski, VA.

She is also survived by sister, Becky Thatcher and Becky’s children. Erin Hudson (Elijah Nester). Matthew Hudson (Danielle) of Charlottesville, VA.

She is also survived by brothers Robert Martin (Donna) and David Martin (Margaret)
Additionally she is survived by close friend Sharon Kinder.

Melba spent many years working for the Pulaski County Treasurer’s Office before joining her husband at their business, Coltrane Welding and Fabrication.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband Danny that she loved so dearly.
