Caskey, Nancey “GranMa”

Nancey “GranMa” Caskey of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania met the Lord on August 10th , 2026 while in her beloved second home of Floyd, Virginia. She was 79 years young. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first born grandson Craig Slavicek.

You would often find her cutting up with one of her two daughters; Adelle Sissy Nichols or Brandy Caskey. Nancey was was an avid participant in Margaretville with her tribe (Sissy, Elena, Wendy, Pam and Rhonda.) She adored her son in law Shannon Nichols and his brother Jason aka Jeffrey, he was her favorite. Her two sons Thomas R. (Jenn) and Duane T. (Cathy) reside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was Ma, Mum, Mother to others throughout her lifetime to Robert, Lewis, Jamie, Judy, Pumpkin and Roosevelt to name a few.

Nancey was GranMa to Craig, Ahyla, Audrianna (Jake), Zoey, Chloe, Morgan, Luella, Lexie, all the Schoen kids, and multiple adopted loves along the way, Amber, Brandon and Alexis. She was a GiGi to Eilee, Akyla, Dezri, Koda, Jashyla, Mary Jane and Castiel.

In her prime Nancey was a hell of a cook and baker. She had terrible taste in men and outlived every one of them. She loved her Bourbon. She pinched strangers bottoms in public, misspelled your name and sent 1or 5 Christmas cards in the same year. GranMa was a gifted artist, caregiver and had her dream of going to Alaska come true. If you were sick you’d be fine, if not it was your thyroid.

Nancey did not have a pot, she did not have a window. GranMa had an open door, strong opinions and a big heart. She will be missed by many.

We are gathering to say see you later on Sunday August 16th at Gardner Funeral Home, 202 East Oxford St. Floyd, Va. Visitation 1 to 3. Service at 3pm officiated by Brother Mike Varnor.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Gardner funeral home attn Nancey Caskey, to help with funeral and hospital expenses. Elijah Craig Bourbon is optional.
