6/20-21: Floyd Artisan Trail

6/20-21: Floyd Artisan Trail 2The Floyd Center for the Arts is proud to present the 16th Annual Floyd Artisan Trail, taking place Saturday, June 20, from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday, June 21, from 12 PM to 5 PM. This free, self-guided tour invites visitors to explore the creativity, craftsmanship, and culture that make Floyd County one of Virginia’s premier arts destinations.

This year’s Trail features 16 artist sites, 22 artisans, and 7 Artful Adventure Partners, offering visitors an immersive weekend of studio tours, artist demonstrations, workshops, exhibitions, shopping, and authentic Floyd experiences. Visitors can meet artists where they create, learn about their artistic processes, purchase handmade work directly from makers, and discover the stories behind the region’s thriving creative community.

A highlight of the weekend is the opportunity to experience art in action. Participating artisans will offer live demonstrations in a variety of disciplines including pottery, woodworking, mosaics, painting, jewelry, leatherwork, and more. Visitors can witness traditional and contemporary techniques firsthand while engaging directly with the artists who keep these creative traditions alive.

New for 2026, visitors can go beyond the studio tour experience through a series of hands-on artisan workshops offered throughout the Trail. These workshops provide opportunities to learn directly from participating artisans, explore new creative skills, and create artwork of their own while gaining a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship behind handmade work.

The Floyd Artisan Trail also encourages visitors to experience the broader creative culture of Floyd through its growing network of Artful Adventure Partners. As visitors travel from studio to studio, they can complement their Artisan Trail experience with stops at local galleries, shops, farms, restaurants, lodging destinations, and entertainment venues. Together, the Trail’s artisans and Artful Adventure Partners create a weekend-long celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and community that can only be found in Floyd.

“As the presenter of the Floyd Artisan Trail, the Floyd Center for the Arts is honored to connect visitors with the artists, studios, and creative destinations that make Floyd such a unique arts community,” said Erin Rodgers, Program Manager at the Floyd Center for the Arts. “The Trail offers an opportunity to experience creativity firsthand while supporting local artists, artisans, and businesses. Whether you’re watching a demonstration, taking a workshop, exploring a working studio, or discovering one of our Artful Adventure Partners, there is something for everyone to enjoy throughout the weekend.”

Visitors are encouraged to begin their journey at the Floyd Center for the Arts, where the Floyd Artisan Trail Exhibition is on view through July 4, 2026. The exhibition features work by participating Trail artisans and provides an introduction to the artists, mediums, and destinations featured throughout the weekend. Trail maps and brochures are available at the Floyd Center for the Arts and all participating Trail sites.

Now in its sixteenth year, the Floyd Artisan Trail continues to attract visitors from across Virginia and beyond, offering a unique opportunity to connect with artists, explore scenic rural landscapes, discover hidden creative gems, and support the local businesses that contribute to Floyd’s vibrant arts economy. Whether spending a few hours or an entire weekend on the Trail, visitors will experience the creativity, hospitality, and entrepreneurial spirit that make Floyd a destination unlike any other.
