Urick, Amy Bunce

Urick, Amy Bunce 2Amy Lee Urick of Billings, Montana passed away at Canyon Creek Memory Care Community, on April 29, 2026 at the age of 66. Amy was born in Madison, WI on February 22, 1960 to George Edwin and Jo Ellen Bunce.

She grew up in Blacksburg, Virginia, graduating from Blacksburg High School in 1978. Amy attended VA Tech, studying communications, then moved to northern Virginia where she spent most of her adult life. There she met her husband Randolph Jon Urick and they were married September 7, 1985. Amy and Randy both worked for Verizon for many years. During this time, they often enjoyed taking road trips on Harley Davidsons, with a group of friends. They also took several trips out west to explore a landscape and culture that strongly engaged their imagination. When they retired, Amy and Randy fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to Wyoming, where they bought a house and some 30 acres in Sheridan, attending concerts, rodeos, visiting nearby parks and museums, and watching sunsets and wildlife on their property.

Amy was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia at the age of 60, the form that gradually steals the ability to speak, then to understand, and finally to care for yourself. She met this devastating diagnosis with frankness and grace- and trust in the care she would need from others. As the health of both husband and wife failed, she was blessed to be able to move to Canyon Creek Memory Care Community, in Billings, Montana.

Her husband died in 2023, but Amy lived for three more years, in a safe and beautiful setting where she found love, fun, good food, and encouragement and appreciation for who she was in her soul. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the staff members of Canyon Creek for their loving and compassionate care at all times, as well as to Compassus Hospice care for providing exceptional comfort care to her and us during Amy’s final days. She passed quickly and painlessly, knowing she was loved. Her very last day was filled with dreaming and smiling, and stretching her arms out straight, causing us to wonder if she was riding a Harley down a sunny highway somewhere.

Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Monnie Wilson of Annandale, Va, Bill and Flo Bunce, of Arlington, Va, her uncle Harold Wilson of Baltimore, her husband Randolph Jon Urick of Sheridan, WY and father George Edwin Bunce of Blacksburg, Va. She is survived by her mother Jo Ellen Bunce of Blacksburg, Va, her sister Linda Bunce-Vincent (Michael) of Cool Ridge, WV, 6 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews, as well as ever faithful BFF Natalie Dierks of Bristol, Va.

Amy’s ashes will be interred with her husband’s, per their wishes, in the Biwabik, MN cemetery at a later date. Donations of remembrance may be sent to the Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, New York, 10001, towards dementia research.
