Songer, Ok Hui

Songer, Ok Hui 2Ok Hui Songer (pronounced as Oak He Songer), 79, of Christiansburg passed away peacefully with her husband and daughter on April 29, 2026. Born in Seoul, South Korea.

Ok is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Elwood ‘Butch’ Songer Jr.; her daughter, Kimberly Ann Songer Gray and husband Richard. Also surviving OK was the light of her life; her grandsons, Hayden Ridge Songer Wilburn (Kori), and Chandler Mason Drum Wilburn. Also her great grandson Caston Wilburn.

She enjoyed sharing her Korean culinary skills with friends and family. She very much had an “I am woman, hear me roar” philosophy, with which she tackled whatever life had to throw at her. She always presented herself as a pillar of strength. Ok was known to take pride in keeping her yard looking meticulous. She made sure you never left her house hungry nor empty-handed, no matter the purpose of your visit. Her grandsons were the light of her life.

In a last grand gesture OK chose to donate her body to science in hopes helping future generations.

The family requests that in Lieu of flowers that you donate to the organization of your choice in Ok’s name.

There will be no services.
