Robertson, Elizabeth Fry
Elizabeth “Betty” Robertson took her final Jeep ride into the sunset in her beloved Buddy L. on March 12, 2026, at 1:37 a.m.—just as she lived: on her own road, leaving behind a trail of love, laughter, and adventure.
Betty passed away peacefully following a brave battle with cancer at the age of 76. It is difficult to put into words the kind of wife, mother, MeMaw, and friend she was, and how she showed up for everyone she loved.
She was a deeply loving wife to Joe Robertson; a devoted “Momma Bear” to her daughters, Jennifer Tawney and Carla Hockl; and a proud and adoring grandmother to Zach Simmons, Tre Slusser, and Rylee Rodriguez. She was also a cherished sister to Joe Fry.
Betty welcomed everyone with an open heart. She loved hosting family and friends, caring for her animals on the farm, going to the gym and spending time with her Jeep family, who meant so much to her. A passionate Philadelphia Eagles fan, she could always be counted on to cheer loudly “Fly Eagles Fly!”.
She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, generosity and the unconditional love she shared so freely. Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Betty’s memory may make a donation to Good Samaritan. Contributions may be made online at GoodSam.care or by mail to Good Samaritan, 4715 Cove Road NW, Roanoke, VA 24017.
Though her road here has ended, we know she’s already found the next trail—and the ride is beautiful.
