Moser, George Edgar

Moser, George EdgarGeorge Edgar “Eddie” Moser, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024, just one day shy of his 78th birthday. Born in Bluefield, WV, on October 9, 1946, to the late Alton and Ruby Rye Moser, Eddie lived a life marked by love, service, and a touch of mischief that brought joy to all who knew him.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sarah “Dixie” Conley Moser, and their children: son Michael Moser and his wife Tiffany Duncan, daughters Delia Proffitt and her husband Bill, Wanda Moser, and Barbara Quinn Moser. He was a guiding light in the lives of his grandchildren Randall Smith and his wife Regina, Evan Smith, Amber Dean, Jack Farmer, Aerin Saylor, and Shyenne Backus, as well as grandchildren to whom he had a special bond: Jacob Proffitt, William Proffitt, and Hunter Moser. His legacy also lives on through his 20 great-grandchildren, who will miss his boundless energy and playful spirit.

Eddie is also remembered by his sister Bonnie McCoy and her partner James Hale, a special brother-in-law, Doug Conley; his special niece Amy Reynolds, and several other nieces, nephews, and beloved family members who will fondly recall his wisdom and wit. He was preceded in death by his daughter Monica Lyn Moser and siblings Frank, Jerry, Roy, Lee Moser, Jean Lively, Barbara DeWeese, and Carol Morris, who have welcomed him into eternal rest.

A proud veteran, Eddie served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His patriotism and bravery were matched only by his compassion and dedication to his family and community. Upon returning from service, Eddie’s work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident in all he undertook, being a dedicated machinist at MOOG Components for over 35 years.

Eddie’s interests were as expansive as the great outdoors he so loved. An avid hunter and fisherman, he found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of walking in the woods, riding his four-wheeler, and sharing his passion for nature with his grandchildren. He had a knack for storytelling and could often be found regaling his loved ones with tales of his adventures, always with a twinkle in his eye and a joke at the ready.

Those who knew Eddie understood that his greatest joy was found in the time he spent with his grandchildren. He cherished every moment, whether it was teaching them the finer points of casting a line or sharing the quiet beauty of a sunset in the woods. Eddie’s legacy is one of laughter, learning, and love—a legacy that will be carried forward by the generations he inspired.
