Webb, Sr., James Arnold

James Arnold Webb, Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, of Ripplemead, Virginia passed away on June 14, 2024, in the care of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born on March 23, 1942, in Virginia, James was a beacon of faith, strength and love throughout his 82 years of life.

James grew up in a close-knit family and was the beloved son of Linda Mullins Webb and Hargis Webb Sr. He was survived by his brothers, Ed Webb (Lesha), Bill Webb, Bob Webb (Chris), and his sister, Jackie Garmer.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Hargis Webb Sr. and Linda Mullins Webb, as well as his brothers, Hargis Webb Jr., and Ray Webb, and his sister, Ruby Webb, all of whom he held dear in his heart.

James found his soulmate in Dale Webb, and together they built a life filled with laughter, love, and devotion during their 6o years of marriage. Their journey as husband and wife was a testament to enduring love. The family they created was James’s pride and joy, including sons Jimmy Webb (Linda), Johnny Webb, and Jerry Webb (Crystal), and daughter Janie Webb. His role as Papaw to his grandchildren, Christian Webb, Caitlin Webb, Ariel Webb, and Dominique Webb, was one he cherished. He ensured that each of his family members felt loved, supported, and had everything they needed.

Throughout his life, James was known for his hard-working and resourceful nature. His dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his family and his community. He was a man who not only built structures including the family’s home but also built strong relationships and a legacy of integrity.

James’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a man of God who enjoyed reading the Bible and sharing the word of God with those around him. His faith-filled life was an inspiration to many, and his strength and unwavering belief was a comfort to those who knew him.

A man of many interests, James had a passion for music and could often be found playing his guitar, filling the room with bluegrass songs. He loved cars and really enjoyed rebuilding his 1984 Thunderbird to like new condition if admittedly faster than factory. His love for the simple things in life was evident in his fondness for watching westerns, where tales of courage and honor mirrored his own values.

James will be remembered as a man who put his family first, who led by example, and who lived by his faith in God. His presence was a source of stability and comfort. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and the many lives he touched with his faith, generosity, patience, and kindness. As we say goodbye to James Arnold Webb Sr., we celebrate a life that exemplified the virtues of faith, love, and commitment. He was a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and made this world a better place.
