Photo club May winners
Joyce Sims of Radford won the Radford Photo Club’s May challenge, wildflowers, with a photo of a Trout Lily she saw in Ashe County, NC. “This was on a wildflower hike through Montgomery County Parks and Recreation,” she said. “The flower is named for its leaf, which resembles the coloring of a trout. The Trout Lily blooms in April when trout fishing season begins, which also contributes to its name.”
Tracy Burlingame of Riner won the open competition with a photo of her three Siamese cats in a window. The oldest, in the middle, is 17. The one on the left is 12 and the one on the right is two years old. That is a Hoya rope in bloom above them.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, June 19, at 6 p.m. at the Radford Public Library. The photo challenge is People.
The Radford Photo Club is made up of professional and amateur photographers from throughout the New River Valley. Meetings, events, and outings are open to the public. If you have questions about the club, email Lucy Gilmore at lucyg.gilmore@gmail.com or Joyce Crowder at joycecrowder2@icloud.com.
