Price, Barbara Johnson
Barbara Kay Price, known affectionately as Kay, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024, at the age of 69 in Pearisburg, Virginia. Born on January 18, 1955, in Giles County, Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late Charles Johnson Sr. and Betty Pyles Johnson.
Kay’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love and kindness. She shared a remarkable 50-year journey with her husband, Robert “Bobby” Price. Together, they raised two sons, Travis W. Price and his wife Lori of Alaska, and Chad Price and his wife Nicole of Pearisburg. Kay’s role as a grandmother was one she embraced with joy and pride, doting on her grandchildren Sebastian, Broderick, Nathanael, Kensington, and Bianca Price.
She was a loving sister to Brenda Fuller (Sidney), Betty Lang “Totsie,” and Libby Kerr. She also held a special bond with her brother-in-law, Danny Dale Collins. Kay was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Johnson Jr., and her sister, Ginger Collins. Her warmth and gentle ways brought together a close-knit family, including many special nieces, nephews, her beloved work friends, and a plethora of friends.
A dedicated employee, Kay retired after 38 years of service at Celanese, where she formed a special group of girlfriends who would remain a significant part of her life. Their card games, trips, and days spent visiting with each other were very important to Kay. She cared for her friends deeply.
A member of the Riverview Baptist Church, Kay’s faith was a guiding light throughout her life and inspired her to serve others with compassion. She had a generous spirit and was always at the forefront of raising money for kids and supporting veterans, causes close to her heart.
She was the perfect grandmother, reveling in the simple pleasures of being with her grandchildren. She loved watching them play sports, run in the yard, and even enjoyed sneaking them treats when she could. Her love for playing cards, talking on the phone with friends, and seeking treasures at yard sales brought her immense joy. Kay also cherished her time at the beach, where she found peace in the rhythm of the waves.
Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her, yet her legacy of love, kindness, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Kay was a beacon of light in the lives of many, and her memory will be treasured forever.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join in celebrating the life of Kay Price as we bid her a peaceful farewell. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Riverview Baptist Church.
