8/28: New Kiosk at Hale Community Pollinator Garden

8/28: New Kiosk at Hale Community Pollinator Garden 2On Thursday, August 28 at 5:00 p.m., community members are invited to the Hale Community Pollinator Garden at 215 Maywood Street, Blacksburg, VA for the dedication of a new kiosk information center, a project born from the collaboration of Master Gardeners of the New River ValleyLive Work Eat Grow, and the Christiansburg Home Depot.

The kiosk will serve as an educational hub for visitors, offering information about pollinator-friendly plants, gardening practices, and the critical role pollinators play in sustaining biodiversity. The project comes at a pivotal moment—pollinating insects such as bees, butterflies, and moths face unprecedented threats from pesticide use, habitat loss, and climate change. Local pollinator gardens offer essential refuge and food sources, helping to reverse these declines while fostering a healthier ecosystem.

In the spirit of the garden’s mission, these local organizations have acted as “community pollinators” themselves—working together to create beautiful spaces, inspire connection, and encourage harmony with the natural world. “Just as bees spread life from flower to flower, our partnerships spread energy, knowledge, and hope throughout the community,” said a representative from Live Work Eat Grow.

The dedication ceremony will include brief remarks from partner organizations, recognition of volunteers, and an opportunity for attendees to explore the garden and the new kiosk. All are welcome to attend this free event.
