Yates, Virginia Stanger
Virginia (Ting, Granny Ting) Stanger Yates of Christiansburg, VA, passed away on Tuesday April 23, 2024 at the age of 98, in the comfort of her home. She would have been 99 this July.
Virginia was a native of Christiansburg, Virginia. She is the daughter of the late Margaret (Maggie) Jones and William Stanger.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dudley Yates; daughter, Joyce Ann Epperly, son-in-law Kenneth (Ken) Epperly, son Larry Dudley Yates, grandson Nicklas (Nick) Brian Yates, sister Katherine Bailey, and brother, Richard Stanger.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Brenda (Kay) Yates; granddaughter Jennifer Ann Slusher-Slusser and husband Christopher Slusser; grandson Eric Duane Yates and wife elanie Yates; great-grandchildren Gracie, Josei, and McKenna Yates. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews and cousins.
Virginia was a pillar of hope, love, and strength to her family and community, offering a helping hand when she could to those in need. She enjoyed volunteering her time for RSVP of Montgomery County and attending the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church as a member for many years. Virginia loved gardening, cooking, baking rolls and cakes, and sending Christmas cards to friends and family. She was truly one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew her.
Family will receive friends on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 1-2 pm at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2pm in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel at 1300 N. Franklin Street in Christiansburg.
