Woman dead from gunshot in Pembroke
On October 31, 2020 at around 12:27 p.m., Giles County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a medical call from a male subject complaining of shortness of breath. The caller was requesting assistance at his residence in the 100 block of Royal Drive in Pembroke, VA.
EMTs arrived at the scene and found 60 year-old Donald Eugene Collins suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. EMTs also discovered a 64 year-old female inside the residence who was deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. At this time, the identity of the female is not being released.
Donald Collins was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Deputies have obtained warrants on Donald Collins for second degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The Virginia State Police is assisting with the investigation. There is no ongoing threat to public safety. No further information will be released at this time, as this is an active investigation.
