Williams, Billy Joe
Billy Joe Williams, 74, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Billy was a wonderful, devoted husband to wife, Linda Booe Williams, of 48 Years, and an amazing father to two daughters, Heather Williams of Princeton, WV, and Holly Williams Martin (Scott) of Christiansburg, VA.
Billy Joe never met a stranger and had many lifelong friends scattered across the country. He worked with McNeil Pharmaceuticals, later known as Johnson & Johnson for 30+years as a successful pharmaceutical representative, winning 3 President Cups. Among many achievements, he was awarded Region Business Director Award 1997, Platinum Award in 1999 & 2000, District Representative of the year in 2004, Tops Sales Performer 2004, Presidents Circle Award in 2008, and Region Business Director Award 2008. His role allowed him to meet a lot of people along the way, always encouraging them with a smile, a funny story, and kind word.
In addition to his warm smile and inviting conversations, Billy was a pillar of his community and his church. He grew up at Pine Grove Baptist Church and graduated from Peterstown High School in 1967. He came from a musically talented family and was known to sing with them at events throughout the years. He was a phenomenal pianist and loved to play for his church and friends.
Billy will be greatly missed and remembered by his immediate family, his brother, Alfred Williams (Laura Ann), nieces, Tammy Williams, Janet Humphreys (Fred), Angela Collins (Michael) and many cousins and greats (nephews/nieces). He was predeceased by his parents, Roscoe Lee and Ruth Evelyn Crawford Williams, his sister, Mabel Lee Williams Elmore and loving brother-in-law Bucky Elmore.
A service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Gary Hazelwood officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
