Wickline, Ryan James
Psalm 34:18 – “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our loved one, James Wesley “Ryan” Wickline, on October 19, 2024. Ryan was born on January 5, 1990, to Renee Simpkins (Surfside, SC) and Jimmy Wickline (Lindside, WV).
He was a former graduate and athlete of Peterstown High School. His competitive spirit on the fields and court carried over to family game nights around the kitchen table and living room with cousins, aunts and uncles where many laughs were shared. Much like his Papaw Ralph, he enjoyed having those family “get togethers”. Ryan was intelligent, rambunctious and adventuresome and kept us all on our toes when he was a child. He will always be remembered for his beautiful smile, infectious laugh and tender heart. He was his Momma’s world and will forever be loved and missed by his family.
Ryan was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Wickline (Lindside, WV) and both Grandfathers: James Wickline Sr (Lindside, WV) and Ralph Wills (Rich Creek, VA).
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Renee Simpkins & stepfather Garry Simpkins (Surfside Beach, SC); Sister, April Blankenship and daughter Bailee Blankenship (Pearisburg, VA); Grandmothers, Narcy Wills (Rich Creek, VA), and Nora Lee Wickline (Lindside, WV); Aunts & Uncles, Debra & Carlos Moore (Va Beach, VA), Jo Ann & Mark Shelton (Old Fort, NC), and Greg & Courtney Wickline, along with many cousins from multiple states.
We invite you to join us for a Memorial Service to celebrate Ryan’s life at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, on Monday, October 28, 2024. Receiving of family & friends at 3:00pm with Aubrey Whitlow officiating the service at 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ryan’s memory to support drug addiction and alcohol recovery. Checks can be made to Southern Highlands and mailed to 200th St. Ext., Princeton, WV 24740 or donations can be made by calling (304) 425-9541 ext. 1500.
