Whittaker, Paul Douglas

Paul Douglas “Doug” Whittaker, 79 of Pearisburg, VA departed this life to enter into his Heavenly home on January 18, 2023 with his loving family and in the care of New River Valley Medical Center. Born on March 2, 1943 in Giles County, Virginia he was a son of the late Paul and Dora Lafon Whittaker.

Doug first served his country proudly as a US Marine. Later he would serve the community as a supervisor with the Hercules Radford Army Ammunition plant for over 38 years. For over 60 years he spent his life and served along the side of his loving wife, Panzie Vaughn Whittaker. He served his Jesus faithfully and was a member of the Mountain View Church of God of Prophecy in Narrows, VA. He also enjoyed golfing with his friends, fishing, and the outdoors. In his heart he also held a special place for his fur baby, Roxie.

In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by a brother, Donald Whittaker; and sister, Phyllis Lester.

Left to cherish his memory to their hearts are his wife, Panzie Whittaker; sons, Malcolm Whittaker (Suzanne) of Pearisburg, and Darren Whittaker of Pearisburg; grandchildren, Alyson Whittaker; two step-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Dunford; special friends, Donald McCroskey, Earl Johnson, Jim Myers, and Carl Adams; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a funeral service conducted on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Mountain View Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Jim Hagy officiating. Funeral services will conclude at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the Mountain View Church of God of Prophecy.
