Wheeler, Melva Keatley
Mrs. Melva Jean Keatley Wheeler, 75, of Ballard, West Virginia, died October 24, 2024, after a long illness. She was born September 26, 1949, in Hinton, West Virginia, the daughter of the late James Austin and Alma Fox Keatley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Billy E. Wheeler.
A graduate of Forest Hill High School, Mrs. Wheeler worked with the West Virginia Department of Welfare for several years and retired from Summers County Schools. She loved the Lord and attended the Roles Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons: Christopher of Sandstone, West Virginia; Mark of Ballard; and Philip (Amy) of Pearisburg, Virginia; seven grandchildren: Hailey, Abby, Sadie, Alyssa, Colt, Chloe and Ethan; four brothers: James (Evelyn) of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia; Danny of Indian Mills, West Virginia: Gary (Nancy) of Hinton, West Virginia; and David (Terri) of Forest Hill, West Virginia; four sisters: Marjorie (John Northeimer) of Charleston, West Virginia; Ruth (Bill) Williams of Hedgesville, West Virginia; Sarah of Galax, Virginia; and Elizabeth of N. Wilkesboro, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:30 p.m., Nov. 3, at Fairview Baptist Church, Forest Hill, West Virginia, with the Rev. Steve Howdock officiating.
