West End Wednesdays Return!
West End Wednesdays is a free & family friendly concert series that features live music by local talent, on site food trucks and dessert vendors, hand-crafted artisans, and craft beer for purchase in a relaxed and cozy atmosphere, taking place on the grassy nook of the Glencoe Mansion Museum and Gallery in West End Radford. This event is hosted by MountainTrotter, a local non-profit organization, and was created to not only showcase a variety of local talents, but to offer a community gathering to families, professionals, and residents alike. This event remains free to the public with the help of donations, local sponsors, and the help of the Radford Heritage Foundation.
Taking place on the second Wednesday of the summer months, the remaining West End Wednesdays are scheduled for July 10th & August 14th from 5:30pm-8:30pm at the Glencoe Mansion, 600 Unruh Drive Radford. Local trio, String Theory, will perform in July – an acoustic Americana group who specializes in clean harmonies and simple arrangements from a variety of influences. “String Theory was a huge hit at (MountainTrotter’s sister event,) Craft & Draft, and we are so excited to welcome them to the WEW stage!” says Lauri Murphy, executive director of MountainTrotter. The July edition will also welcome J&D’s Rockin’ Weenie Wagon, Sweet & Savory Donuts & Bagels, Afternoon Delight Cookies & Cakes, and on-site craft beer & wines. Local vendors and community organizations include The Radford Public Library, Willow Thyme Soapery, Glencoe Mansion reenactors, and much more. Stop by the WEW Merch Tent for our dog station, free items for the kids, and your chance to win West End Wednesdays items such as reusable cups, frisbees, and more!
West End Wednesdays is excited to now offer a free community Yoga Garden, hosted by Downey Dog Yoga from 6pm-6:30pm. Along with recycling, West End Wednesdays has partnered with the Levy Garden, who is sponsoring a Compost Station to help reduce waste and create a greener future in Radford. The Glencoe Mansion will also host a special exhibit opening that showcases the evolution of Prom through the decades.
West End Wednesdays will conclude on August 14th, with a live performance by Blacksburg’s Issac Hadden and his band One-Eyed Jack. Hadden was recently praised for his performance at Martinville’s Rooster Walk, for his performance with Roosevelt Collier Trio. Find more about West End Wednesays on Facebook!
