Viars, Berta Mae Bond

Berta Mae Bond Viars, 89, of Pulaski, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9. Born March 14, 1930 to George and Vila Bond she was the youngest of eleven children and the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years Carl J. Viars and her husband of one year, Theodore Worley; along with siblings Inez McGlothlin, Anna Belle Bratton, Helen Alexander, Mamie Smith and Robert Bond, Cecil Bond, Lawrence Bond, Malin Bond, Gilmer Bond and LaHugh Bond.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely and enjoyed spending time with them attending various activities and was always interested in what was going on in their lives. She was a licensed minister in the Church of God and held many local revivals. Her passion was teaching her Sunday School class known as “The Little Church within the Church” at the Pulaski Church of God. She was a member of the sanctuary choir where she loved to sing for church services and participate in special cantatas and programs. She always had a song in her heart and a kind word for those around her.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mickey and Brenda Viars, Blountville, Tennessee, and Susan and Nicky Hall, Pulaski; grandchildren and spouses Crystal and Scott Rupe, Cherish and Randy Dunnigan, Christopher and Heaven Viars, Jason Viars and Chad Hall. Great-grandchildren Chandler, Cooper and Claire Dunnigan, Preston, Gavin and Ellecea Rupe, Trey and Alexia Rupe, Natalie Parker and Jase Viars; great-great granddaughter, Alayna Rupe; god-daughter, Angela Hare. Many special nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm – 2:00pm, Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Pulaski Church of God. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm with the Reverend Donnie Weaver and Reverend Travis Gore officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Heritage Hall – Rich Creek (Memory Unit) for the excellent care Berta received.
