Vaught, Carol Robertson
Carol Robertson Vaught, a beacon of warmth and the matriarch of her loving family, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, in the care of Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. Born on March 9, 1946, in the small town of Narrows, Virginia, Carol’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith.
Carol’s journey began as the daughter of Eugene Robertson and Janet Bowles Robertson, who instilled in her the values of kindness and community. Though she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Wayne Vaught, her parents, her sister Kay Stewart, and her son-in-law Kevin Deford, Carol’s legacy of love continues to flourish through her family.
A cherished mother, Carol is survived by her children: Jeffery Vaught (Karla), Steven Vaught (Connie), and Melissa Deford. Her role as a grandmother was one of her most treasured, as she leaves behind her adoring grandchildren: Brittany Deford, Justin Deford, Steven Vaught Jr, Joshua Vaught, Misheal Smith, and Dalton Smith. The joy of her life multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren:, Kaden Jones, Luke Deford, Kierra Jones, and Karter Jones.
Carol’s siblings, John Robertson (Joyce), Eva Weddle (Ralph), Deidri Thornton (David), and Yvonne Robertson, will remember her as a sister who could always be counted on for support and laughter.
Throughout her life, Carol embraced the role of a homemaker with unmatched passion and dedication. She was known for her exceptional cooking skills and took great pleasure in writing out recipes that would become cherished family treasures. Her kitchen was a place of gathering, where stories were shared, and memories made. Traveling brought Carol immense joy, as she loved exploring new places and experiencing the beauty of the world. However, she was most content when surrounded by her family, cherishing each moment spent with her loved ones. Carol’s faith was a cornerstone of her existence. Singing gospel music and participating in church were not just pastimes but integral parts of who she was. Her melodious voice and genuine worship were an inspiration to all who had the privilege of hearing her sing.
