Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Eastern Pulaski County, The City of Radford, Floyd County, and Montgomery County Until 730 PM EDT.

* At 435 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. 1 to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen with the heaviest amounts in southern Pulaski and western Floyd counties.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…

Christiansburg…
Radford…
Dublin…
and Floyd.

Additional rainfall of up to 1 inch is expected over parts of the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
