Update on Wildfire
The Virginia Department of Forestry reports the fire on Parrott Mountain has expanded to more than 300 acres and is roughly 25 percent contained.
The fire has crossed into Giles County at the top of the mountain. Crews treated five homes in the area and are developing plans to protect other homes if needed. The fire is challenging due to the steep terrain and recent dry conditions.
No one has been evacuated. Authorities said Dry Branch and Parrott River Roads are closed to non-residents and drivers are advised to avoid this area.

to the person that ask about the cemetery it is untouched. To the person screaming that Parrott is all racist idiots better pull their skeletons out of the closet. Parrott has lost alot of good people over the last year now look what is happening to the community. The little community deserves better than someone trashing them like you are. some of my best friends live there.shout out Reggie hope u ok.parrot is awesome I raised hell on That river.whoever started shit talk,when I was kid I loved that place till law was thick there.was rough place but u got your ass whipped u got out of line.miss those days…….stump
