Teany, Mary Thompson
Mary Frances Thompson Teany (Oct 29, 1927 – Feb 25th 2025) at 97 years old, went to her heavenly home on Feb 25th at 6:20 pm. To her family she was a walking angel. Mom, you have your wings now.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul Teany, her parents, Ora and Nena Mae Thompson. Sisters and Brothers in law Glada and Earl Goodman, Elmalene and Johnny Duncan, Doris and Clark Crane, Phyllis and Jerry Gallaher, Judy and Jim Helm, and Sonny Westmoreland. Brother and Sister in law Ronol and Helen Thompson. Father and Mother-in-law George and Peach Teany. Also, Brothers and Sisters in law Ludlow and Marge Teany, Sonny and Susan Teany, John Teany, Beby and Rob Bratton, Sis and Russell Duncan, Sal and Rudy Boles, and Bill Peterman.
Mary is survived by her daughter Sharon, son and daughter in law Paul Jr. and Marie, grandson Brandon, Sister Nancy Westmoreland, and Brother and Sister in law Bobby and Pat Thompson, sister-in-law Mary Peterman, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary grew up in Radford, worked at Leggett’s Dept. Store and met Paul after he returned from WWII. They married in 1950 and moved to Christiansburg and from that day till this, Christiansburg has been her home, in the same house for 75yrs.
Mary Frances was an active member of the CFD Ladies Auxiliary for 27yrs and in Dec 2019 they honored her with Lifetime Membership in recognition of those years of service. A faithful member of Old Brick P.C. where she sat in the same pew for 70yrs until her health kept her at home. And home was where she ‘shined’. A seamstress that demanded perfection in her work. A cook that baked pound cakes and brownies for every occasion. Her specialty was refrigerator rolls (her family loved and looked forward to them) … and perked really gooood coffee…. Her life was about home and family… her immediate family, extended family, church family and neighborhood family.
Our Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, and Sister-in-law made her mark on all our lives and we treasure our time with her. Although we will miss and love you forever. RIP until we meet again…
Services in Mary’s honor will be held on Saturday March 1st. With Visitation from 1-2pm at Horne Funeral Home, and Funeral Service will follow at 2pm in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Teany Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flower the family requests donations be made to CFD Ladies Auxiliary Inc. c/o Drew Yopp 115 Sheltman St. Christiansburg, VA 24073

I was Ms Teany’s insurance agent for many years. She was such a joy to visit and always a special person to talk to. You could just feel the
“goodness” in her conversation. She was always interested in my family and the love for her family was so evident and special! A very humble lady who I am sure will be greatly missed.
My sincere sympathy for her family! She was one of my favorite clients. Loved her!
