Talkington Sentenced to 25 years

On December 10, 2025, Michael James Talkington, age 52, of Christiansburg was sentenced to a mandatory 25-year prison sentence for:
• Possession with the intent to distribute marijuana
• Distribution of marijuana
• Possession of schedule I/II controlled substance
• Sexual abuse of animal
• Solicitation of a minor
• Child solicitation by electronic means
• Possession of child pornography
• Possession of items depicting sexual abuse of an animal
• Production of child pornography

This sentence is the result of an investigation which began in October 2024 after Sheriff’s Office Investigators received a tip from Homeland Security Investigations that Talkington was engaged in an online relationship with a juvenile. A search warrant was subsequently executed at Talkington’s residence where electronic devices and narcotics were seized. Upon analysis of the seized electronic devices, investigators discovered child sexual abuse materials as well as animal sexual abuse materials.
