Sweeney, Hubert

Hubert Sweeney of English, WV went to be with Jesus on October 8, 2025. He preached for over 50 years and pastored several churches in the area. He was a retired coal miner.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruben & Sallie Sweeney with whom he grew up with alongside his brothers and sisters. Hubert is survived by his wife, Mabel Louise Sweeney; daughters, Theresa Lester, Edna Gail Hines & husband, Jay, and Lorine Hawks & husband, David; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 13 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Atwel Mountain Church in Bradshaw, WV. Funeral services will follow at the church with Rev. Roger Hale Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Atwell Mountain Church Cemetery.
