Sweeney, Dorce Oliver

Dorce Oliver Sweeney, age 92, of Blacksburg died Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery with her family at her bedside. She was born in Blacksburg Va., on April 22, 1931, to the late Kent and Irene Perdue Oliver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Sweeney, sons, Lewis Howery, Tommy Howery, and grandson, Eric Cook.

She is survived by her daughters, Lois Hedrick, Marie Sweeney, Irene Cook, and Nancy Shooshtari, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, and other family members. Her days were filled with joy, conversing with her grandson-in-law, John Oliver, and playing with her fur babies, Harley and Liberty.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, January 26, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery with Deronda Bishop officiating.
