Supervisors Request Rehearing for MVP Project

The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors unanimously (7-0) approved a Resolution to petition the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for a rehearing on FERC’s recent Order issuing a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing, with conditions, the construction and operation of the Mountain Valley Pipeline Project.

The Board of Supervisors approved this action based on Montgomery County’s belief that FERC has not addressed the potential dangers the construction of the pipeline might have on the local environment and the potential negative impact on the quality of life on County citizens.

This resolution was approved following a closed session held by the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors at a joint meeting with the Montgomery County School Board on Monday, October 30, 2017.
