Stuff the Bus This Month!

United Way of the New River Valley is kicking off its eighth-annual Stuff the Bus campaign on July 1st, 2018. The Stuff the Bus program is a school supply drive for children in need in the New River Valley. Eight locations throughout the community will have drop bins available for donations July 1st through July 31st.

Montgomery: Walmart, Kroger on South Main St. in Blacksburg, and Dollar General in Riner.

Radford: Radford Public Library, Thai This and Taylor Office Supply.

Floyd: Slaughter’s Supermarket and the Floyd County Tourism & Chamber of Commerce Office.

We are also currently seeking COMPANIES to run COMPANY DRIVES at their location! Please contact Marcela to set up a drive at YOUR office!

All items received in a specific community will be distributed to children in need in that community. All donations stay local to serve the needs of local children. Distribution of the school supplies this year will be through local partner charities (Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program, Radford Clothing Bank, and Floyd County Emergency Assistance Program) and given to local school systems to help teachers.

In addition to the month-long collection, a Stuff the Bus Event will take place Saturday, July 28th. Three school buses from Montgomery County, Radford City, and Floyd County will be parked at the Christiansburg Walmart from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On this day, the community is urged to “stuff the bus” to send local children back to school prepared to learn.

If your family needs assistance with school supplies for your children, or you would like additional information, please contact United Way of the New River Valley at (540) 381-2066 or by email at
