Stewart, Wilburn Ray 4On March 21, 2023 Wilburn Ray Stewart, 81 of Dublin, Va. left this world at the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Wilburn was the son of the late Ellis and Hazel Stewart of Dublin, Va.  

He was born in Baileysville, WVa. and attended school in Pineville, WVa. He married Virginia Hoffman and they had two daughters, Diana (Everett) Phillips of Ashland, KY and Debbie Tabor (the late Sydney Tabor) of Crystal Lake, IL.

He was a wonderful papaw to four grandsons: Bradley Phillips of Cross Lanes, WVa.; Andrew Phillips (Nikki) of Catlettsburg, KY; Travis Tabor and (Taylor) of Kansas and Jarred Tabor of Chicago, IL. He is also the great-grandpa to Taylor, 12, Lucas, 6, and Ellie, 2 all of Catlesburg, KY.

Wilburn was an Army Veteran serving from 1960-1965.   When he returned home from the military he started his career as a coal miner, working at Itman, WVa. most of his career.  He loved automobiles and guns and had an extensive collection of both.

Wilburn has one living brother, Donnie Stewart of Salisbury, N.C. and 2 living sisters, Patty Graygil of Alabama and Susan Waggoner of WVa.   He had two brothers proceed him in death, Benny Joe of Pineville, WVa. and Larry Stewart of Dublin, Va.

Wilburn had a special place in his heart for his little dog, Baby who misses him terribly.

He has many nieces and nephews.

Wilburn will have a service at New Life Nazarene Church conducted by Julie Armstrong on Saturday, March 25. Viewing will be at 1 p.m. with funeral following at 2 p.m. In keeping with his wishes he will be cremated.

Due to his love of all animals and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in his name to the Pulaski County Animal Shelter in Dublin, Va.
