Snyder, Kenneth Alexander

Snyder, Kenneth AlexanderKenneth (“Bo” or “Alex”) Alexander Snyder, passed into eternity on August 1, 2024 in Huntersville, NC. He was the 4th child of Kenneth A. & Reba L. Johnston Snyder. He was born July 29, 1954, in Mullens, Wyoming Co., WV. He was a great-grandson of Calvin and Kate Stinson Vest of White Gate, Va. In1960, Kenneth and his family moved to Narrows, Giles County, Va. He later lived in Charlotte, NC, Marion, Ohio, Radford, Va., Concord, NC, Kannapolis, NC, and Mint Hill, NC.

Alex led a simple life requiring few material things. He was never married. He enjoyed a good home-cooked meal, especially dessert, and enjoyed his sister Kenny’s peanut butter balls. Alex enjoyed the family gatherings where he shared many treasured childhood memories with his siblings and in-laws. He especially enjoyed the annual Virginia trip to the Vest Reunion in White Gate, Giles Va where he met his many relatives and made numerous new friends. Alex loved classical country music and immediately identified with an artist when he heard a tune. He was a history buff and enjoyed many hours watching video documentaries of WWII and the Civil War. He was an avid sports fan and followed his favorite teams closely. He shared many heartfelt expressions of love, both in word and deed that will forever be cherished.

His parents, baby sister Maryellen S. Buckland, and brother-in-law Bernard M. Smith preceded him in death. He is survived by three siblings, James E. Snyder (Patti) of Huntersville, NC, Kenny S. Cummins (John) of Waldo, Ohio, and Jennifer S. Smith of Glen Lyn, Va., and nephews and nieces including Tim and Steven Snyder, Holli & Todd Mitchem, and Michelle Cummins. All have fond memories of their younger brother and uncle who struggled valiantly with lifelong medical conditions and provided many laughs for all.

Bo, you have fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Rest peacefully, our beloved brother. We will think of you often and laugh at the many cheerful things you have done. Having you in our family has been an honor and joy we will forever cherish. Rest high on the mountain, dear brother, rest well in peace.

Per his wishes, “Bo” has been cremated. A private service is planned for a later date.

The Snyder family is in the care of A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, avestandsons.com, (540) 921-2985.
