Smith, Sherman Eldon

Sherman Eldon Smith, 81 of Pearisburg, VA., (Ingram Village), went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at his home. Sherman was born on February 5, 1943, in Pearisburg and was a son of the late Vilson Smith and Virgie Stafford Smith. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Curtis, Walter, Harley and Darwin Smith.

Sherman was a 1962 graduate of Giles High School in Pearisburg and was a retired employee of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford with 39 years of service. He was an avid football fan, especially the Giles Spartans and loved watching NASCAR racing on tv.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Kerr Smith of Pearisburg, 3 daughters, Teresa Smith (Ron), Christina Keffer (Gene), Heather French (Adam) all of Hoges Chapel, 8 grandchildren, Kerston (Richard), Cyan (Michael), Ramsey, Rachel, Rhett, Cade, Michael, Whitney, 6 great grandchildren, Trinity, Asher, Gage, Emma, Kenzie, Kaitlyn, 1 brother, Gerald (Bear) Smith, numerous nieces & nephews, special niece, Angela Williams, special family friends, Roger and Faye Reynolds and Bobby and Betty Reynolds.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg Friday, June 14, 2024, at 2:00pm with Pastor Ron Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg Friday from 12:30 – 2:00pm.
