Sisler, Allen Preston

Sisler, Allen PrestonAllen Preston Sisler, 42, went home to be with our Lord in Heaven on November 8, 2024. He was born on March 7, 1982, at the naval base in Millington, Tennessee, to the late George “Butch” Sisler Jr. and Lesley Dornbush Sisler.

Raised in Roanoke and Newport, Virginia, Allen graduated from Giles High School before proudly serving 12 years in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer Second Class (Aviation Warfare). He completed three deployments and throughout his service protecting the country was most proud of Operation Enduring Freedom.

He is survived by his sister, Lauren Sisler Willard; her husband, John; and his nephew, Mason; his auntie and uncle, Linda and Mike Rorrer; his uncle, Ross Dornbush; his aunt, Becky Vernon; his cousins, Jason, Justin, Jonathan, Ben, Luke, and Hannah; his partner, Paula Brune; and his loyal German Shepherd and best friend, Scout.

Allen was not only a dedicated sailor but also a lover of NASCAR, the Washington Redskins, the Virginia Tech Hokies, hunting, classic rock, and the mountains of Giles County—his home, which he fondly called “God’s Country.” He embraced life to the fullest, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Allen’s adventurous spirit, kind heart, and big smile will be remembered forever by those who knew and loved him. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and protector whose legacy will live on in the memories and stories we cherish.

The family will receive friends in a time of visitation on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Oak View Christian Church, 1649 Spruce Run Road, Newport, Virginia, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. A Memorial Service will follow to honor the life of Allen at 2:00 PM in the Oak View Christian Church where Military Honors will be presented by the U.S. Navy and American Legion Posts 68, 311, and 415. He will later be laid to rest with his mother and father at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia Courthouse.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a memorial fund through Oak View Christian Church in celebration of Allen’s life. Contributions will support local community initiatives, including aid for veterans, reflecting Allen’s deep faith and commitment to serving others.
