Sautia, Dorothy Garnand

Dorothy Louise Garnand Sautia of Newport News, VA (formerly of Christiansburg, VA) passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2024.

Dottie grew up in Christiansburg and attended Radford University where she obtained her B.S. in Social Work. She worked for Montgomery County Department of Social Services for several years and then transferred to Newport News Human Services where she finished out her career doing what she loved the most, helping other people. She was quick-witted, enjoyed reading, movies, debating politics, and the New York Yankees.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Willie Garnand; sister, Catherine Scaggs; brothers, Robert, Henry, Mac, Jimmy, Billy, and Freddie Garnand; nieces, Donna Davis and Joyce Woolwine; nephew, Bobby Garnand; and fur babies, Muffin and Dakota.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Pat Garnand; sisters-in-law, Arlene and Debbie Garnand; nieces and nephews, Leo Scaggs; Stephanie (Ken) Gott; Jeffrey, Dale, Andie (Laura), Kim, Karen, Dana, Matthew (Katie); Mark (Ashley) Garnand.

The family will be holding a private ceremony.
