Sarver, Betty PetersBetty Jean Peters Sarver, 87, of Ripplemead, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall Webster Peters, Sr. and Ruth Naomi Peters, her brother and sister-in-law Marshall “Pete” and Doris Peters, her sister and brother-in-law Loretta and Jim Oakley, her infant sister Margarite Peters and 3 nephews Barry and Randy Peters and Greg Oakley.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 66 years, William “Jack” Sarver, her son Dale Sarver and her daughter and son-in-law Kim and Keith Williams, niece Teresa Perdue and husband Russell and great niece Crystal Boggess, husband Mason and their daughters Rhea and Cooper. Special friends: Todd, Diana, Christian and Elijah Millsaps and Shirley Hale, her friend since childhood.

Betty loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, choosing to stay home and raise her children. She loved to sing and listen to music, old Baptist hymnal gospel songs and Elvis were her favorites along with country music. She enjoyed cooking, camping, going to Myrtle Beach, attending Giles Spartan football games and watching NASCAR races. She enjoyed her time at church and was involved in numerous committees, worked in the nursery, sang in the choir and served as a Sunday School assistant. Her hobbies included collecting dolls (some of which she made from kits and dressed) and attending car shows and cruise-ins.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 2pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with Pastor Todd Millsaps officiating. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home 1 hour before the service from 1 – 2pm. Burial will follow in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.

In lieu of flowers, Betty wanted donations given to The Hope House or the Giles County Bible Bus.
