Lois graduated from high school in 1955. She and Curtis were married on December 23, 1955. Before becoming a full time homemaker, Lois worked at Imperial Reading “Overall Factory”, in Christiansburg. She lived to care for her family in every way. Lois loved to cook, can, garden, tend to her beautiful flower beds, and farm alongside her husband and son.

Before macular degeneration took her sight, Lois enjoyed sewing, quilting, and reading every book she could get her hands on, especially her bible and genealogy books. If you had a question about who was related to whom, she probably knew the answer.

Lois was a proud member of the DAR and served two terms as Chaplin. She was also a member of Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren.

One of her greatest accomplishments was being “Memaw” and keeping her three grandchildren for many years. In most recent years she found immense joy in her three great-grandsons.

The family would like to thank Carilion Hospice especially Allie and Beverly for their love and support of Memaw. Memaw also appreciated all of the calls, cards, visits, and prayers as her health declined.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2025 at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren with Pastor Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow in the Lindsey Lester Cemetery.
