Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Transit Center

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Transit Center 2On Thursday, March 20, 2025, Blacksburg Transit will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the recently completed Transit Center building. A LEED Gold-certified building, the Transit Center features a passenger waiting area, the Hokie Bike Hub, conference rooms, a staff break room, and office spaces. The Transit Center is located in the passenger drop-off and boarding areas known as The Loops near the Perry Street parking garage on Virginia Tech’s campus. Located on the east and west sides of the building, the Loops include 17 sheltered bus bays that have been in operation since August 2024.

“The Transit Center and Loops function as the centerpiece for public transportation within Blacksburg by facilitating multi-modal connections for passengers to local and regional services within one facility adorned with modern passenger amenities,” said Blacksburg Transit Director Brian Booth.

The 26-million-dollar project, which includes the Transit Center building and Loops, was paid for through grants provided by the Federal Transit Administration and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation as well as local contributions by the Town of Blacksburg and Virginia Tech.

The ribbon cutting event will begin promptly at 9:45am on Thursday March 20, 2025 and is open to the public.
