Retirement Brunch Honors Mark Sisson
The Christiansburg and Montgomery TRIAD S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) Council hosted a Retirement Brunch on August 15 for Chief Mark Sisson of the Christiansburg Police Department in appreciation of his commitment to TRIAD.
Montgomery County Board of Supervisors Chair Sherri Blevins was in attendance to thank Chief Sisson for his over 29 years of dedication, service, and leadership in law enforcement to Christiansburg and Montgomery County.
Chief Sisson began with the Christiansburg Police Department in 1995, as a patrol officer, then served as a drug task force investigator, investigations sergeant, patrol lieutenant, and investigations lieutenant. He was appointed Chief in 2007.
During his tenure, Chief Sisson launched multiple safety programs, including Project Lifesaver, Teen, Senior, and Citizen Police Academies, the NRV Fall Festival, and the Christiansburg Business Watch helping make Christiansburg a Certified Crime Prevention Community.
Chief Sisson has been instrumental in the Books to Badges program, which offers two-year scholarships for students working toward law enforcement careers and Access to Community College Education with the New River Community College.
Chief Sisson was awarded the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Award in 2016 and the Distinguished Leader of the Year in Government in 2022.
