Republican Party denies ballot access to Lowe

Republican Party denies ballot access to Lowe 4Kimberly Lowe, the 9th Congressional District candidate running on the Republican ticket against Morgan Griffith, cries foul play regarding party players and ballot access. On Thursday April 7th Kimberly Lowe turned in around 1400 petition signatures to obtain ballot access to the 9th District Congressional Chair. While only 1000 petition signatures are needed from registered voters, more were turned in in order to have a safety cushion.

The Chair gave Lowe a hard time on Thursday and would not accept them and Ms. Lowe was given the run around until they were accepted. Then on Tuesday April 12th in the evening right before a GOP meeting she received a statement from the 9th District Chair stating her ballot access was denied and very quickly that same chair called the GOP Chair where Lowe was attending a meeting letting the chair know that Ms. Lowe was not allowed to speak at the meeting as it would be going against Morgan Griffith.

Within minutes of Lowe having received the notification that her ballot access was denied by the Chair with the Chair claiming she did not have enough petition signatures, GOP Facebook pages were announcing Morgan Griffith as the Republican nominee despite there being a clear appeals process.

Kimberly Lowe, a single mom, farmer, and policy advisor has worked extremely hard for well over a year and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the Congressional race. She will be appealing the decision of the 9th District Republican Party Chair to the Virginia Department of Elections.

She states this is a clear attempt by the party establishment to stop grassroots candidates who are for the people. The people in the 9th District are sick of a career politician who has not met the needs of the people much less passed any policy and a politician who just doesn’t show up.

This is further an example of the good ol’ boys network attempting to stop a woman and to keep a hold on their establishment power. The primary will take place on June 21st, 2022 at your local polling station and Ms. Lowe is confident her appeal will be accepted.
