Political analyst to speak on Elections
Political analyst Rachel Bitecofer, who has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and NPR, will speak on Elections in the Trump Era in a Zoom Community Forum, Thursday, Oct. 8, 7 p.m. The event is organized by the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County and is being offered by the Lifelong Learning Institute of Virginia Tech.
Bitecofer’s innovative election forecasting model predicted the 2018 midterms five months before Election Day, far ahead of other forecasting methods. Bitecofer is a senior fellow at the Niskanen Center in Washington DC with a specialization in elections.
Anyone can attend this League forum by registering at bit.ly/LWVMCFallForum. The forum is co-sponsored by the Lifelong Learning Institute at Virginia Tech, Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County Branch of the NAACP, Virginia Tech Women’s and Gender Studies, and Virginia Tech Center for Rhetoric in Society.
“At a time when American elections have become increasingly nationalized and highly predictable, Bitecofer analyzes how partisanship serving as an identity-based, determine vote for all but a small portion of Americans,” said Elizabeth Obenshain, president of the Montgomery County League.
Those who register for the forum will receive an email with the Zoom link a week before the event.
