Perkins, Annette Seward
Annette Seward Perkins, 85, moved to her eternal resting place on Friday, July 26, 2024. She was born December 15, 1938. Annette battled to overcome a series of strokes over the past year. She was preceded in death by her husband Bobby H. Perkins in 2019.
Annette influenced hundreds of young lives as she taught and was a principal in Montgomery County Public Schools. The majority of that time (over 30 years) was teaching government at Blacksburg High School. She was also an influence in the Montgomery County community through her work on the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors from 1998 until 2017, serving as a member, vice-chair (2003-2004) and chairperson (2008-2010) as well as being chair of the Montgomery County School Board.
Annette had a strong faith and served her church, Blacksburg Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), as Sunday school teacher, board chairperson, Elder and Elder Emeritus as well as serving on various committees within the church. Both Annette and her late husband Bobby were part of the fabric of the Blacksburg Community and will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery 5550 Bagging Plant Road, Dublin VA at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. In lieu of flowers please consider a Memorial Gift in memory of Annette to Blacksburg Christian Church, 240 Watson Avenue, Blacksburg VA 24060.

Thank you, Mrs. Perkins, for your great love of God and neighbors. Thank you for your kindness. You walked a great walk. I know you got that “well done” when you came to the gate. You and Mr. Perkins are still a great team.
