Perdue, Carolyn Jean
Carolyn Jean Perdue, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, in Narrows, Virginia, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on September 9, 1953, in Giles County, Virginia, Carolyn’s life was one of devotion to her family and an embodiment of kindness that touched all who knew her.
Carolyn’s journey through life was shared with her beloved husband of 58 years, Richard Perdue, who stood by her side in a partnership that was a testament to enduring love. Their family grew with the joyous additions of their son, Terrance Martin and his girlfriend Kaylyn Neal, and daughter, Jamie Perdue Martin, married to John Martin Jr. Carolyn’s role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, and her guidance and wisdom were the foundation upon which her children built their lives.
The light of Carolyn’s life shone brightest in her role as a grandmother. Her grandchildren, Cambrea Neice, married to Zach, Jalen Martin, Brennon Martin, married to Faith Scott Martin, Bryson Martin, and Jaren Martin, were the recipients of her boundless love and unwavering support. Her great-grandchildren, Sophie Martin and Paisley Martin, brought her immense joy and pride. Carolyn’s love extended to her siblings, brother Jeff Perdue, who shared this journey with his wife, Teresa, and sister Joyce Reed. Her extended family included her brothers-in-law, Danny Perdue, married to Teresa, and Ronald Perdue, as well as her sisters-in-law, Oneeda Perdue, Violet Payne, and Betty McGuire, married to Steve. Each of these relationships was nurtured with care, reflecting the depth of her affection for her family. While Carolyn’s life was filled with joy, it was also marked by loss. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Brookman Perdue, her daughter, Julia Cole, her brothers, Bob, Bill, CF Perdue, her sister, Jody Spangler, her brothers-in-law, Leon Reed, and John Spangler, and her sister-in-law, Jessie Perdue. Each left an indelible mark on her heart.
For many years, Carolyn’s heart remained steadfast in the care of kids. Throughout the years, Carolyn cared for over 200 children in her home teaching them and guiding their footsteps, this was one of her highest callings.
