Peeples, Sr., John Taylor
John T. Peeples, Sr., 66, of Martinsville entered into his eternal life on November 28, 2025. Preceding him are his parents Dr. chester Weir “C.W.” Peeples and Betty Lou Collins Peeples.
Surviving family members whom will cherish his memory are his wife Cheryl Peaves Peeples; children John Taylor Peeples Jr,, wife;Chelsea Makin Peeples, children: Anna Rose Peeples, Abram Thomas Peeples, and Asa John Peeples. William Anderson Peeples, wife: Virginia Anne Peeples, children: Elanor “Nora” Reaves Peeples. Siblings Chester Weir “Chet” Peeples III, David Collins Peeples (Leslie), Guy Langley Peeples (Theresa). Nieces and nephews Tatiana Boucher (Maxim), Brad “Henry” Reaves (Sarah), Lizzy Curl Reaves, Seth Richards (Jenna), and Merylann Campbell (Zachary), Channing Peeples, Collins Peeples (Leslie), Houston Peeples (Callie), Brooke Peeples (Brandon Broadfoot).
John retired after working in Non-Profit Finance int the towns they lived in, including: Saint Jude Children’s Hospital in memphis, TN.; United Way of Montgomery, Radford, and Floyd in Christiansburg VA.; Better Housing of Tompkins County Inc, Ithaca Housing Authority, and United Way of Tompkins County in Trumansburg, NY.
He loved to garden, use his photography skills, feed the birds in their yard, and spend time with family and friends. John was deeply devoted to his faith in Jesus Christ. The husband of a pastor, he served in the church as a Deacon and ann Elder first elected at First Presbyterian Church West Memphis. He then served at Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses, and Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. He provided the audio and visual technology for services at First Presbyterian Church of Ulyssesand First Hills Presbyterian Church.
When his childrren were growing up, he was a Boy Scout leader, Sunday School teacher for First Presbyterian Church West Memphis and Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, a ChristiansburgHigh School Band Parent, and Youth Group leader at Christiansburg Presbyterian Church (chaperoning annual trips to Montreat Youth Conference).
Special thank you to friends and family in the Presbyterian denomination. The family extends their appreciation to the following care teams: SOVAH Hospital-Martinsville, Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and Good Samaritan Hospice of Roanoke.

A memorial service will be on Friday, december 12, 2025 at 4:00pm at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church (725 Beechnut Ln, Martinsville, VA. 24112) with Rev. Dr. B Miller of First Presbyterian Church Martinsville officiating. A committal Service will be on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 11:00am at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church (701 Church St. SE, Blacksburg VA. 24060) with Rev. Dr. Sarah Wiles and Rev. Emily Rhodes Hunter officiating.

I was so saddened to hear of John’s untimely passing. He was a kind and gentle soul. My heart goes out to Cheryl and their family. nother Angel has been born.
