Pedestrian killed overnight in Blacksburg

A 20-year-old Blacksburg man died after being hit by a car overnight, according to the Blacksburg Police Department. Shortly after midnight, authorities were called to the 2200 block of S. Main St. with a reported vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

Officers were able to identify the pedestrian as 20-year-old John Wallace Thomasson, of Fairfax. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but, Thomasson succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and is assisting with the investigation.
