Parkins, Edward Wayne

Edward Wayne Parkins, 80, of Shawsville, passed away on April 9, 2026. He was born on April 9, 1946, to the late Crista and Ilean McKinley Parkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mildred Fridley, Hazel Williams, Helen Hoke, Chris Parkins; and his beloved son, Michael Parkins.

Surviving him are his devoted wife, Evelyn Parkins; children, Edward D. Parkins (Tracy), Shannon Shampine (Mark); grandchildren, Brittany McHale (Patrick), Tiffany Shampine, Jordan Dudley, April Parkins; great-grandchildren, Amelia McHale, Harper McHale, Jaxon McHale. In addition, he will be missed by his brother-in-law, Wayne Fridley (Bernita); sisters, Dreama O’Connor (Mike), June Craft; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special pet, Buck A Roo.

Ed worked for 43 years at Kik and attended Piedmont Pentecostal Holiness Church. He loved racing, VT football and basketball, but his biggest smile came when his great-grand kids came to visit.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the entire staff at Good Samaritan Hospice.

Visitation will be Monday, April 13, 2026, from 1-2 p.m. at Piedmont Pentecostal Holiness Church. Funeral Services will begin at 2 p.m., with Pastor Tim officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery.
