Overstreet, Nellie Linkous

Nellie May Linkous Overstreet of Floyd, passed away from this life on January 6, 2024 to be with her loving husband of 36 years, John (Johnny) Lewis Overstreet in Heaven. He was 67 years old and passed away on February 11, 2010.

She was born August 27,1934 to parents, David E Linkous and Winnie B Linkous of Blacksburg, Va. Both are deceased. She was also preceded in death by four of her brothers; Colbern Linkous, age88, and his wife Radie Kessinger Linkous, Dublin, Va., Clifford Linkous, age 81, and his wife Elizabeth Calhoun Linkous, age 51, of Martinsville, Va., Albert “Bud” Linkous age 80, of Christiansburg, Va., Elmer L. Linkous age 58, of Roanoke, Va., Weldon Linkous, of Bassett, Va.; Sisters; Naomi Ruth Linkous, age 26 days, Frances Linkous Cupp and her husband John, of Blacksburg, Va.

Survived by her sister, Shirley Linkous Howard, of Riner, Va. Thirteen Nieces and Nephews, whom she dearly loved. Nellie was office nurse for 20 years to Dr. John Hoge Woolwine Jr., of Blacksburg, Va.

She worked at Skyline Manor Nursing Home for 4 years. She then went into people’s homes to care for them. She loved helping people. She had to give up work in 1999 to care for her husband Johnny. She was a member of Floyd Baptist Church where she loved very much.

Funeral services will be at Floyd Baptist Church on January 11, 2024 at 2PM with Pastor Dan Agee officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery in Floyd beside her husband Johnny.
