NRVHBA’s Touch-A-Truck NRV Donation

With the completion of the 3rd Annual Touch-A-Truck NRV bringing more than 3000 mothers, fathers, and truck loving children of all ages to the NRV Mall on August 26th, the New River Valley Home Builders Association has presented a donation of $500.00 to the NRV Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity is a strong building partner in our community and is making great strides to offer home ownership to working families. The NRVHBA believes home ownership should be within the reach of all Americans and is why we choose Habitat for Humanity as the 2018 Touch-A-Truck NRV beneficiary.

The mission of the New River Valley Home Builders Association focusses on several key factors for the building industry – Advocacy, Education, and Giving Back.

Touch-A-Truck NRV fulfills two of these factors. This event is to offers NRV families a low-cost, family fun activity which allows them to see a different side of the building industry. Our other community event, is the Home Expo in March, but unlike that one, Touch-A-Truck NRV offers is very unique educational experience.

Our members are the ones taking a turn to teach our children about the role they play in the NRV. Explaining how the vehicles perform daily tasks, how the drivers of these vehicles are trained to respect them, and the reasons why they are important to helping our community thrive and grow.

Not only do children get a chance to sound the horns and sirens, they are encouraged to ask questions of the people who are responsible for these vehicles thus learning about the building industry from a very different view.

Donations made at the event support our donation to Habitat for Humanity as well as continued growth in events like Touch-A-Truck NRV.
