NRCC production technician program

NRCC production technician program 4Registration is open for New River Community College’s short-term production technician program that begins August 22.

This short-term program runs Aug. 22 through Dec. 14 with classes meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at the college’s Christiansburg site.

The production technician program prepares and certifies individuals for career pathways in advanced manufacturing. The purpose of the program is to recognize through certification, individuals who demonstrate mastery of the core competencies of manufacturing production at the front-line, including entry-level through front-line supervisor, through successful completion of the certification assessments. The goal of the production technician certification program is to raise the level of performance of production workers both to assist the individuals in finding higher-wage jobs and to help employers ensure their workforce increases the company’s productivity and competitiveness.

The program consists of four individual certificate modules: Safety; Quality Practices & Measurement; Manufacturing Processes & Production; and Maintenance Awareness. Individuals must earn the four certificates to receive the full production technician certification.

The production technician program is eligible for tuition assistance through the G3 program. This program provides Virginia residents who qualify for in-state tuition and whose family income falls below an identified threshold with tuition assistance. Additional financial assistance may also be available.
